Children Learn What They Live
by Dorothy Law Neite
If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child learns to feel shame, he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement he learns confidence
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
he learns to find love in the world.

Grandfathers
Grandfathers are a special breed
Of kinfolk, all their own.
They love you and hug you,
And spoil you to death.
And then, they send you home.

If
I Knew It Would Be The Last Time
Author Unknown
If I knew it would be the last time that I'd
see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute or two,
to stop and say that "I love you,"
Instead of assuming that you KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share you day,
well, I'm sure you'll have so many more,
So I can let this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance to make everything alright.
There will always be another day to say our "I love you's,"
And certainly there's another chance to say our
"Anything I can do's."
But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you and hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So, if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or kiss,
And you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today, whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them.
And that you'll always hold them dear.
Take the time to say "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me," "Thank
you," or "It's OK."
And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.

The Kid Within
by GenesisAE
There is someone inside you, dying to get out. . .
Remember how much fun it was playing tag and running about?
Ally Ally in Come Free. . .
Red Light, Green Light, Duck, Duck, Goose.
Remember back when everything was so fresh and loose?
Red Rover, Red Rover, Send Krissy Right Over.
Riding a Merry go Round and not throwing up.
Eating ice-cream in paper cups.
Giggling and laughing without a care,
It's still within you, Look deep if you dare.
Cartoons were Saturday's special time,
We still hve our favorites, Wonder Dog was Mine.
The magic we saw in a rubber ballon,
When we let go of the string, did it go to the moon?
When going to bed late, meant staying up until eight.
Captain Kangaroo, could never beat Mr. Rabbit,
Ping Pongs dropped on his head, oh what a habit.
Sitting still in school,
or the teacher would let you have it. . .
Disney movies that made us cry,
come back Old Yeller, Why did die?
Flubber made us think we could bounce,
That darn cat was ready to pounce.
Drinking cola in glass bottles.
And cashing them, when pennies seemed like dollars.
Ice-Cream truck dinging about,
It all made childhood worth singing about.
The kids still there in us, we all need to let it out
To play really we must.
Laying on the grass
Looking up at the shape of the clouds,
You might be surprised
When you hear that child giggle.

Mommy's Online
I can hear them calling, so I know they are
fine.
"Where's Mom?" they are saying, Don't they know I'm Online?!!!
"We're Hungry!", I hear. I tell them, "Please hush!
Mom is online now, what is the rush!!?"
They had a bite yesterday when the phone lines were out,
These kids drive you crazy...Oh look! There's a pout!
I dispense bowls of cereal as I download a file...
No time wasted here...I'm a true computerphile!
I check out the boards and respond to a few,
"We're so bored!!," moan the children, "What can we do?!!"
I tell them to stop, please do not whine.
Geeez...can't they see their mother is busy online??!!
The grumbling continues as they wander about
"Mom's ALWAYS on the Computer!!," together they shout!
Unawares to me, they yank the phone from the Jack,
saying, "Daddy is right...this is the way to get Mommy back!"

To My Children
Author Unknown
When I spill some food on my nice clean dress
Or maybe forget to tie my shoe,
Please be patient and perhaps reminisce
About the many hours I spent with you.
When I taught you how to eat with care,
Plus tying laces and your numbers, too,
Dressing yourself and combing your hair,
Those were precious hours spent with you.
So when I forget what I was about to say,
Just give me a minute or two,
It probably wasn't important anyway,
And I would much rather listen to you.
If I tell the story one more time,
And you know the ending through and through,
Please remember your first nursery rhyme
When I rehearsed a hundred times with you.
When my legs are tired and it's hard to stand
Or walk the steady pace I would like to do,
Please take me carefully by my hand,
And guide me now as I so often did for you.

My Dear Fragile Little One
By TrueBlu9 - Submitted January 2006
My dear fragile little one, who is not quite yet grown,
Lies there suffering the hell, of having one her own,
As you lie there crying, from pain no man has known,
And mommy's heart is breaking, anew with every moan,
I want to take your hand sweet one, and wipe your sweating brow,
Then take your pain for my own, and would if I knew how,
I hate myself my little one, cause there's nothing I can do,
I'm your daddy little one, and I'm supposed to protect you,
Forgive me my dear fragile one, I couldn't stop the years,
I couldn't stop you growing up, and now can't stop your tears,
But I can tell you this my little one, all the pain you're going through,
You'll one day say was worth it,
if your little one, my little one, is just a little bit, like you
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY LITTLE ONE
I LOVE YOU TEDDY BEAR

Touch
by Kathie Davis
Mothers, touch your children,
Fathers, hug them tight,
Let them know you love them
morning, noon, and night.
Put your arms around them,
hold them near to you,
Feel the beating of their hearts,
the life that you made new.
Roll around the floor with them,
tease and laugh and play,
Listen to what they'll tell you,
they have so much to say.
Take time to get to know them,
see the colors in their eyes,
Appreciate that person
that deep inside them lies.
Let them run their fingers through your hair
and down your face,
Fill their hearts with words of praise,
make home their favorite place.
Cuddle with them on the couch
and watch a t.v. show,
Sing with them or share a book
and help their world to grow.
Take a walk into the park,
hold each other's hand,
Smell the flowers, feed the ducks,
build castles in the sand.
Mothers, touch your children,
Fathers, hug them tight,
Show them what a gift they are,
to love them feels so right.
