- John Moon's
birthday -
- Hello My Name is Sarah,
I grew up across the street from John Moon. I look at your
website regularly just for fun to see what celebrity has a
birthday on the same day as someone I care for. I noticed that
on April 3rd you don't have John Moon's Birthday! John Moon is
the oldest living survivor from Iwo Jima and in fact I'm pretty
sure he's one of the few surviving from World War 2. His
name is mentioned in the book Flags of our Fathers and to me he
is a celebrity. He is also a celebrity around Illinois. He goes
to conferences and talks about his experiences. In my mind as a
14 year old he is a hero. So I would greatly appreciate it if
you would please mention his name for celebrity birthdays. He
will be turning 92 this year on April 3rd. He was born in 1916.
Please Please mention him. It would mean a lot to him and me.
Thank you,
Sarah Hilligoss

- In most states, Arbor Day is
observed
the last
Friday of the month
* Arbor Day:
Today the most common date for the state observances is the last Friday in April, and several U.S. presidents have proclaimed a national Arbor Day on that date. But a number of state Arbor Days are at other times to coincide with the best tree-planting weather, from January and February in the south to May in the far north.
For information on what date Arbor Day is celebrated in your state, see The
National Arbor Day Foundation's Web site's special page: Arbor Day Dates Across America
- Day of Silence - is a day when Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning students (LGBTQ) and their
straight allies take a vow of silence for a whole day. The purpose
of this silence is to make a silent protest against the harassment
LGBTQ students face on a daily basis. A link to a website further
explaining this is www.dayofsilence.org.
Day of Silence was started by GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight
Education Network).
