Our First Squash!
Grown from a seed by yours truly...Linda & Richie.

(OK - so maybe it's not so interesting to you - but it sure was to
us!)

Cherry Tomatoes

Our first cherry tomatoes - They were much bigger than we thought they would be.

"Herman"
the Ground Hog
Seems we weren't the only ones who were enjoying
the tomatoes. Phil's cousin (who we named "Herman") was enjoying
himself a little too much in our little garden. Plus he had dug the
biggest hole right against the foundation of the house running under the entire
deck and coming up on the other side. When he didn't feel like going
underground, he would use the deck leaving his little muddy paw prints all over
our recent and time-consuming job of refinishing and staining of our deck.
So we caught "Herman" and took him about a mile away to a great spot
with a pond and lots of other ground hog friends. Right after we let him
go into the "wild" we went to run some errands. On the way back,
we saw a ground hog crossing the road. Although we are not sure if it was
"Herman", it seems funny that the other day we saw another ground hog
in the back yard. Hmmm... guess we'll have to get the trap out again!

Glory Meets
Glory
This will be hard to see on the thumbnail, so click on the pick
to see the enlarged version.
We had gone camping for the weekend and came home to find the
flag in a seemingly suspended state of "wave". Upon further
investigation, we found that somehow the wind must have been blowing and a small
thread from the flag had found it's way into the grip of the tendrils of the
Morning Glory plant. The vine actually grew about a foot onto the thread
from the flag, pulling the thread further out of the flag. It was an
unusual site and it would have been interesting to see just how far the Morning
Glory would have traveled to the flag and flag pole, but the flag is special to
us and we didn't want anything to happen to it. So enjoy the
picture. We call it "Morning Glory Captures Old Glory" or
"Glory Meets Glory". Let us know if you can think of a better
title!

If you look close, you can see where the Morning Glory vine
grabbed hold of the flag.

Morning Glories

Our First Morning Glory Blooms - August 2001
We now have over 50 blooms per plant as of 9/10/01!
They are beautiful! And the blooms are now lasting all day.
The Morning Glory will be a regular addition to our spring plantings.
They are well worth the wait.

A Little Bit of Humor...
I have no plants in my house. They won't live for me.
Some of them don't even wait to die, they commit suicide.
