This is an older report - we haven't been
here since 2003: We thought the casino was nice but lacking in quarter
machines and Keno games which we prefer to play. The only available Keno
machines seem to be $1 machines which is just too much for our budget.
Occasionally we can get to a 50 cent Keno machine, but rarely with two seats
together so we can both play at the same time. It gets a bit
frustrating. We've been to this casino four times and each time we
go we swear we are not going back because they just don't have enough machines
that we like to play. It is doubtful that we will return the fifth time.
There are three floors - the middle floor being
non-smoking. There are other things to
do, such as the shops and tourist attractions in Niagara Falls. Plus the
Hard Rock Cafe is a great place to eat. Be sure to get a player's card
which offers $6 cash back for every 100 points accumulated which can be
used for meals or cash back.
The service at Casino Niagara is fair for getting
beverages. Cashier windows are good. Service for exchanging US
money to Canadian and back again upon leaving is excellent.

This is an older report - we haven't been here
since 2003: We've been to this casino several times now. It's
very clean, modern and new. Nice selection of machines from the
traditional slots to different video-type games. This is a nice casino.
Young people are carded at the door to show proof of age (must be
19 or older) are required to wear a "bracelet" while they are in the
casino.

The Speakeasy Casino in Weirton, West
Virginia draws the people! Even
with over 3000 machines, it is sometimes difficult to find a machine and nearly
impossible to find two machines together on a Friday or Saturday night - so get
there early! There is a good
selection of nickel and quarter machines as well as higher denomination
machines. We read somewhere that penny and dime machines have recently been added (Fall of
2005) but we were unable to find them on our last visit in February 2006. Much to our disappointment, many of the older machines (such as the nickel
multi-game machines with Keno) have been removed and replaced with multi-line
nickel machines. Coffee and soda are free, alcoholic beverages are available
at various costs. Beverage service is usually good, but sometimes we have to wait for hours to get coffee or a soft drink. And we've been
winners! Good live entertainment (we've seen the Marcels several times!) and their food is
excellent!

We haven't been here for awhile - this report
was written in 2002:
Turning Stone Casino operates
on the "card system" for slot machine play. The machines do not
take cash or coins directly; you must obtain a "Diamond Card" which is
similar to an ATM card whereby you deposit money into your account and then play
the machines using your card that keeps track of your money...subtracting what
you play and adding what you win. If you run out of credits, you must make
another deposit and when you are through playing, you must withdraw any money
left on your account.
There are a variety of games -- several types of Keno, poker,
the pull-tab/ reel-type slot games, and you can play for as little as a nickel or as much
as $10 per play. The machines pay jackpots in relation to the amount
played - from hundreds of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Turning Stone also offers a variety of
table games -- many types of poker, craps, roulette and wheel games.
The tables are played with cash and do not require Diamond Cards.
However, if you show your Diamond Card
while at the tables and when you use your Diamond Card while playing slot
machines, you accumulate points which can be redeemed for special merchandise,
meals at any of the fine restaurants throughout the casino, hotel accommodations,
free plays for the slot machines, as well as gift certificates for some of the
shops and stores throughout the casino. The hotel is brand new and the
rooms are modern, comfortable and beautiful.
No alcohol is served at this casino
(although rumor has it that this may change shortly). Soft drinks and
coffee are served to players free of charge. Be sure to tip the waitress!
There is a variety of restaurants,
shops, a game arcade, swimming pool, golf course and big name entertainment such
as the Temptations, Mickey Rooney and other stars. Turning Stone also
regularly features professional boxing.
Turning Stone is one of the few casinos we know of in New
York. The casino is located in the Oneida Indian territory and apparently
is exempt from New York laws prohibiting gambling.

We haven't been here for awhile - this was
written in 2003: Wheeling
Downs has more than 2400 slot machines -- lots of quarter and nickel machines and plenty of
our favorite -- Keno. They also
have live entertainment. By joining their
Players' Club you get entries for drawings to win cars and other prizes. However, we must report that the service is
not real great here - you sometimes have to wait over an hour to get a coffee or
soft drink. One night we had to wait an hour and 20 minutes to cash-out
when a slot machine required a cash payout by an attendant. We were happy
to win, but we lost a lot of playing time waiting for our payout. It's a
shame, because this casino could be the best around if they'd only hire a few
more people to handle the crowds. Service is better at Mountaineer, so we
usually go there.
