Hile Mercantile, Antiques and Country Store, formerly in the old German
Lutheran Church, has moved to the former Chicora Volunteer Fire Company building
at 100 Fire House Cartway.
An auctioneer since 1980, Hile had conducted family and estate auctions, and
operated a weekly auction in the Old Mule Barn, just of West Slippery Rock
Street, until three years ago. He started dealing in antiques in 1993.
The Church has been sold to Dan and Karen
Mortland, who are remodeling the church for an office and the basement for a garage. The Mortland's recently
remodeled buildings adjoining the church.
Hile had refurbished the former fire hall, repainting and is still in the
process of making other sections of the building useable in his antique business. The former ambulance garage and the fire company office have been remodeled
for display of antiques, the truck house is at present, undergoing cleanup and
painting, with other sections used for storage until they can be cleaned,
waxed and placed for display and sale.
Hile invites all old and new customers to visit his new location, where
plenty of parking is available, the main reason he changed locations. Those
