To My Dear and Loving Husband
Written by Anne Bradstreet
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee, give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let's so persevere
That when we live no more, we may live ever.

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways
Written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right:
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, -- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Drip, drip, drip
Goes the steamy summer mist
It glistens on the window ceil.
The shadows of the sun
blink in the skies above.
Then suddenly a bright
Rainbow lights the sky
The colors flowing across
the heavens are like a painted picture.
The people below rejoice in
great show, that is summer
And not winter, everything's
green, like a perfect evergreen.
The happy people wish it
could stay like this forever
As the crumpled leaves start to fall,
it's now winter, and not fall, as the seasons
come and go, peoples moods start to show.

Christmas Time
Written by Carrie Yehle - December 2001
Christmas is a time for family and love,
It's the birthday of the Man above.
The day before Christmas is known as Christmas Eve,
It's also the night that Santa Clause and the reindeer leave.
You go to bed nice and early,
All the kids want to see Santa clause surely.
Thats the thing though, you can`t seem to stay up late enough,
The effort to see St. Nick is just too tough.
Its finally morning on Christmas day,
You run into your mom and dads room and ask them if its O.K.
Down the stairs to the family room and they will see,
Pretty colors of wrapping paper and bows under the tree.
I always wondered what the point in wrapping a gift was,
All you do is tear off the pretty paper as everyone does.
The next exciting part of Christmas is seeing whats in the box,
Could it be a football, babydoll, or could it be a pair of socks?
After opening all the gifts under the tree,
Its to the stockings that we all see.
The stockings are always the best gifts to explore,
You get the little things you need and candy and more.
After all the gifts and stockings are done,
Thats when it really starts to get fun.
Which gift to play with first is to think,
All the monkeys in the barrels are always fun to link.
Wow what a day its been,
All the grown ups are in the kitchen drinking gin.
All the children are still in the family room,
Beginning to get tired and thinking of falling aleep soon.
The night ends quickly and everyone makes it to bed,
"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" Santa said.

It Takes Courage
Author Unknown
It takes courage
To refrain from gossip
When others delight in it,
To stand up for the absent person
Who is being abused.
It takes courage
To live honestly
Within your means,
And not dishonestly
On the means of others.
It takes courage
To be a REAL man or a TRUE woman,
To hold fast to your ideals
When it causes you
To be looked upon
As strange and peculiar.
It takes courage
To be talked about,
And remain silent,
When a word would justify you
In the eyes of others,
But which you dare not speak
Because it would injure another.
It takes courage
To refuse to do something
That is wrong
Although everyone else
May be doing it
With attitudes as carefree
As a summer song.
It takes courage
To live according
To your own convictions,
To deny yourself
What you cannot afford.
To love your neighbor
As yourself!

The
Most Beautiful Flower
The park bench was deserted as I sat down to
read
Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren't enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down,
And said with great excitement "Look What I've found!"
In his hand was a flower and what a pitiful sight,
With it's petals all worn, not enough rain, or to little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a small smile and then shifted away.
But instead of retreating, he sat next to my side,
And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise,"
It sure smells pretty, and it's beautiful too.
That's why I picked it; here it's for you."
The weed before me was dying or dead,
Not vibrant of colors, orange, yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied "Just what I need."
But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the very first time,
That weed toting boy could not see, he was blind.
I heard my voice quiver, tears shone like the sun,
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"Your welcome" he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see,
A self pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.
Through the eyes of a blind child, as last I could see.
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second that's mine.
And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose,
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose.
And smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in his hand,
About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man..
